Throughout the past 2 years, CHUM Preschool has developed all of our Covid protocols based upon the recommendations from the CDC, the PA Health Department, and CHUM’s Covid Team. The latest update from the CDC for Early Childhood settings states: CDC’s new COVID-19 Community Levels recommendations align precautions for educational settings with those for other community settings. Cumberland County and most surrounding counties have now moved into the “Low” level. Due to this, masking is now not a recommendation for our preschoolers. Additionally, Camp Hill United Methodist Church’s Covid Team has decided that the church will now be a “Mask Optional” environment. Therefore, CHUM Preschool will be going “Mask Optional” beginning Wednesday, March 9. If local levels were to increase and we move into the “High” level at any time, we will return to required masking in accordance with the CDC Guidance.
The CDC has not updated protocols related to anything other than masking at this time, so we will continue to follow our other Covid protocols. If your child (or anyone in your household) is sick with what could be Covid, PLEASE keep your child at home. Please continue to report any cases of Covid in your household to the preschool for quarantine purposes. Other local preschools have already begun optional masking and although they have not seen any increased cases of Covid, they are noticing that the kids are catching other sicknesses that they may have avoided over the past few years due to masking. We will continue to sanitize our classrooms, use hand sanitizer and wash hands often, and take temperatures at the classroom door in a continued effort to keep our kids as healthy as possible at school. We ask that you do not send any sick child to school. Remember, they must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication before they can return to school.
We realize that this will be an adjustment for everyone, but we are definitely looking forward to seeing all the smiles!! As always, please let me know if you have any questions.
